                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of February 1, 1966 (1965 P.L.1656, No.581),
     2     entitled "An act concerning boroughs, and revising, amending
     3     and consolidating the law relating to boroughs," further
     4     providing for powers of the mayor.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Section 1028, act of February 1, 1966 (1965
     8  P.L.1656, No.581), known as "The Borough Code," repealed in part
     9  June 27, 1978 (No.53), is amended to read:
    10     Section 1028.  General Powers of Mayor.--The mayor shall have
    11  power:
    12     (1)  To administer oaths and affirmations in matters
    13  pertaining to borough affairs.
    14     (1.1)  To exercise the powers and jurisdiction of district
    15  justices within the borough in the disposition of all summary
    16  proceedings involving juveniles where the juvenile and his
    17  counsel and parents consent to such disposition. The mayor shall
    18  not be authorized to impose a sentence involving detention but
    19  shall be authorized to impose any other appropriate sentence

     1  which a district justice could impose if he were hearing the
     2  case.
     3     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
