AN ACT 1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An 2 act relating to the public school system, including certain 3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial 4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the 5 laws relating thereto," requiring a course in black history 6 to be taught in public, private and parochial schools. 7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 8 hereby enacts as follows: 9 Section 1. The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known 10 as the "Public School Code of 1949," is amended by adding 11 sections to read: 12 Section 1511.1. Black History.--Every public, private or 13 parochial elementary school established and maintained in this 14 Commonwealth shall teach a course in black history to all 15 students in grade six. Such course shall include the study of 16 racial tolerance. Each school district shall have the option to 17 invite local, State and Federal public officeholders, community 18 leaders and educators to lecture on the subject of black 19 history. 20 Section 1605.1. Black History.--Every public, private or
1 parochial high school established and maintained in this 2 Commonwealth shall teach a course in black history to all 3 students in grade twelve. Such course shall include the study of 4 racial tolerance. Each school district shall have the option to 5 invite local, State and Federal public officeholders, community 6 leaders and educators to lecture on the subject of black 7 history. 8 Section 2.
