AN ACT
1 Amending the act of October 10, 1974 (P.L.705, No.235), entitled
2 "An act providing for the training and licensing of watch
3 guards, protective patrolmen, detectives and criminal
4 investigators, carrying and using lethal weapons in their
5 employment; imposing powers and duties on the Commissioner of
6 the Pennsylvania State Police; and providing penalties,"
7 providing for a limited exemption from the educational
8 requirements for certification of certain qualified persons.
9 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
10 hereby enacts as follows:
11 Section 1. The act of October 10, 1974 (P.L.705, No.235),
12 known as the "Lethal Weapons Training Act," is amended by adding
13 a section to read:
14 Section 7.1. Limited Exemption.--The commissioner shall
15 issue the appropriate completion certificate to a qualified
16 individual without requiring such individual to fulfill the
17 requirements of section 4 relating to the mandatory attendance
18 of privately employed agents at certain prescribed courses of
19 instruction if such individual, prior to employment as a private
1 agent, was employed as a full-time police officer for a period
2 of ten years or more in any municipality in the Commonwealth.
3 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
