                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," permitting a teacher in an area
     6     vocational-technical school to be a member of a participating
     7     school board.

     8     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     9  hereby enacts as follows:
    10     Section 1.  Section 322, act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30,
    11  No.14), known as the "Public School Code of 1949," amended June
    12  16, 1972 (P.L.449, No.138), is amended to read:
    13     Section 322.  Eligibility; Incompatible Offices.--Any citizen
    14  of this Commonwealth, having a good moral character, being
    15  eighteen (18) years of age or upwards, and having been a
    16  resident of the district for at least one (1) year prior to the
    17  date of his election or appointment, shall be eligible to the
    18  office of school director therein: Provided, That any person
    19  holding any office or position of profit under the government of
    20  any city of the first class, or the office of mayor, chief
    21  burgess, county commissioner, district attorney, city, borough,

     1  or township treasurer, member of council in any municipality,
     2  township commissioner, township supervisor, tax collector,
     3  assessor, assistant assessor, any comptroller, auditor,
     4  constable, executive director or assistant executive director of
     5  an intermediate unit, supervisor, principal, teacher, or employe
     6  of any school district, shall not be eligible as a school
     7  director in this Commonwealth. This section shall not prevent
     8  any district superintendent, assistant district superintendent,
     9  supervisor, teacher, or employe of any school district, from
    10  being a school director in a district other than the one in
    11  which he is so employed, and other than in a district with which
    12  the district in which he is employed operates a joint school or
    13  department nor shall it prevent a teacher in an area vocational-
    14  technical school from being a director of a participating school
    15  district but shall not be a member of the area vocational-
    16  technical board. A school director shall not be eligible to the
    17  office of member of council in any municipality.
    18     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
