                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1333, No.320), entitled
     2     "An act concerning elections, including general, municipal,
     3     special and primary elections, the nomination of candidates,
     4     primary and election expenses and election contests; creating
     5     and defining membership of county boards of elections;
     6     imposing duties upon the Secretary of the Commonwealth,
     7     courts, county boards of elections, county commissioners;
     8     imposing penalties for violation of the act, and codifying,
     9     revising and consolidating the laws relating thereto; and
    10     repealing certain acts and parts of acts relating to
    11     elections," providing for certain changes in the nomination
    12     process relating to the offices of Governor and Lieutenant
    13     Governor.

    14     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    15  hereby enacts as follows:
    16     Section 1.  The act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1333, No.320), known
    17  as the "Pennsylvania Election Code," is amended by adding a
    18  section to read:
    19     Section 902.1.  Candidates for Governor and Lieutenant
    20  Governor.--
    21     (a)  Notwithstanding any other provision of this act to the
    22  contrary, each candidate of a political party, as defined in
    23  section 801, for the office of Governor shall at the time of
    24  filing of his or her nomination petition have placed upon the

     1  petition, the name of his or her running mate who shall be the
     2  candidate for the office of Lieutenant Governor.
     3     (b)  When the names of candidates are printed on the primary
     4  ballots or ballot labels, each candidate for Governor shall be
     5  printed together with his or her running mate who shall be the
     6  candidate for Lieutenant Governor. A vote for one shall be
     7  counted as a vote for both. No elector shall be permitted to
     8  vote for one and not the other. No person shall be permitted to
     9  run in any primary for the office of Lieutenant Governor unless
    10  he or she is on a ballot or ballot label together with a
    11  gubernatorial candidate.
    12     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
