INTRODUCED BY KUSSE, LYNCH AND MANBECK, APRIL 18, 1978

REFERRED TO TRANSPORTATION, APRIL 18, 1978

                                     AN ACT

1 Designating a certain bridge in Warren County as the "James
     2 Morrison Memorial Bridge."

3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. James Morrison was the first permanent settler in
6 Warren County, having moved there with his family about 1800.
7 Previously, Morrison had served with the Continental Army during
8 the Revolutionary War and was a participant in the battle for
9 Staten Island in 1776 and in the crucial victory at Trenton on
10 Christmas Eve. Discharged from service in 1777, he was very
11 active in the frontier wars against the Indians. In recognition
12 of the foresight, courage and independence of this early
13 Pennsylvania pioneer, the General Assembly hereby recognizes his
14 achievements by affixing his name to a bridge in his native
    15 Warren County.
    16 Section 2. The bridge on T.R. 59 (L.R.209 Station 507+13)
17 approximately 9.6 miles east of Warren Borough and 0.3 mile west
18 of the Warren-McKean county line, is hereby officially

1 designated as the "James Morrison Memorial Bridge."
2 Section 3. The Secretary of Transportation shall erect
3 suitable markers in order to carry out the provisions of this
     4 act.
5 Section 4. This act shall take effect immediately.
