                                     AN ACT

     1  Relating to compensation of municipal officers.

     2     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     3  hereby enacts as follows:
     4     Section 1.  (a)  The compensation of police officers of
     5  municipalities shall be fixed by ordinance or determined in
     6  accordance with applicable ordinances and statutes. The
     7  compensation shall not be determined by or include any fines,
     8  rebates of fines, or fees.
     9     (b)  In addition to the compensation fixed or determined in
    10  accordance with subsection (a);
    11         (1)  the municipality may pay a police officer a fixed
    12     amount or hourly compensation for appearances at hearings or
    13     in court during off-duty hours; and
    14         (2)  the police officers shall receive witness and
    15     mileage fees as provided in the act of July 21, 1941
    16     (P.L.425, No.173) entitled, "An act to establish a system
    17     uniform throughout the Commonwealth for the compensation of
    18     witnesses, regulating the amount, payment and taxation as

     1     costs thereof, and repealing inconsistent legislation."
     2     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
