                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of October 17, 1969 (P.L.263, No.106), entitled
     2     "An act providing for the Traffic Court of Philadelphia,"
     3     classifying writ-servers as law enforcement officers,
     4     increasing their fee and providing for mileage.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Section 10, act of October 17, 1969 (P.L.263,
     8  No.106), entitled "An act providing for the Traffic Court of
     9  Philadelphia," is amended to read:
    10     Section 10.  The president judge of the traffic court shall
    11  appoint as writ-servers of the traffic court such number of
    12  individuals as shall be necessary, who shall be classified as
    13  law enforcement officials and who shall execute warrants of
    14  arrests issuing out of the court. Such writ-servers shall
    15  possess such qualifications as the judges of the traffic court
    16  shall prescribe, and shall serve at the pleasure of the
    17  president judge of the traffic court. As compensation for their
    18  services, such writ-servers shall be paid by the violator a flat
    19  fee, with [no] an additional ten cents ($.10) per mile charge

     1  for mileage, of [four dollars ($4)] seven dollars and fifty
     2  cents ($7.50) for each warrant which the writ-server executes,
     3  upon collection of the fine and costs due the City of
     4  Philadelphia.
     5     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
