PRINTER'S NO. 714

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF PENNSYLVANIA

HOUSE RESOLUTION

No. 51 Session of 1977

        INTRODUCED BY LEHR, ANDERSON, THOMAS AND DORR, MARCH 15, 1977

        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, MARCH 16, 1977

                         In the House of Representatives, March 15, 1977

     1 Each year the fleet of State vehicles keeps growing until the
     2 total now stands at 11,228 or one vehicle for every ten State
     3 workers. One in 30 State workers has a car permanently assigned
     4  to their use.
     5 Ten years ago, the Governor had a chauffeured car and four of
     6 his top aides drove State automobiles. Now the Governor and his
     7 wife have two white Lincoln Continentals driven by State
     8  Policemen; 14 of his inner office aides drive State-owned cars;
     9 and, a total of 43 cars are assigned to the use of the
    10 Governor's Office; therefore be it
    11 RESOLVED, That the Joint State Government Commission study
    12  the use of and need for an extensive fleet of State automobiles;
    13  and be it further
    14 RESOLVED, That the Joint State Government Commission submit
    15 its report to the House of Representatives as soon as possible.
