                                     AN ACT

     1  Prohibiting the use of public buildings for political activities
     2     and providing penalties.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5  Section 1.  Definitions.
     6     The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
     7  have, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise, the
     8  meanings given to them in this section:
     9     "Political activities."  Any activity which is called or
    10  sponsored by any political party or committee or any officer
    11  thereof, for the purpose of conducting the business of said
    12  committee or party and shall include but shall not be limited
    13  to, fund-raising dinners, lunches, breakfasts and cocktail
    14  parties.
    15     "Public buildings."  Any building which is the property of
    16  the Commonwealth or any political subdivision thereof.
    17  Section 2.  Prohibition.
    18     No public building shall be used for any political activity.


     1  Section 3.  Penalties.
     2     Any person who violates any provision of this act is guilty
     3  of a summary offense, and upon conviction thereof, shall be
     4  sentenced to pay a fine of $500 for the first offense and $1,000
     5  for each subsequent offense.
     6  Section 4.  Effective date.
     7     This act shall take effect in 60 days.
