A JOINT RESOLUTION
1 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the Commonwealth
2 of Pennsylvania, providing for further limitations on
3 disqualifications for service as election officers.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby resolves as follows:
6 Section 1. The following amendment to the Constitution of
7 the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is proposed in accordance with
8 the provisions of Article XI thereof:
9 That section 12 of Article VII be amended to read:
10 § 12. Disqualifications for service as election officer.
11 No persons shall be qualified to serve as an election officer
12 who shall hold, or shall within two months have held any elected
13 or appointed office[, appointment or employment] in or under the
14 government of the United States, or of this State, or of any
15 city, or county, or of any municipal board, commission or trust
16 in any city, save only notaries public and persons in the
17 National Guard or in a reserve component of the armed forces of
18 the United States; nor shall any election officer be eligible to
1 any civil office to be filed at an election at which he shall
2 serve, save only to such subordinate municipal or local offices,
3 below the grade of city or county offices, as shall be
4 designated by general law.
