                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for special parking regulations
     3     for handicapped persons and disabled veterans.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Subsection (d) of section 3354 of Title 75, act
     7  of November 25, 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the
     8  Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, is amended to read:
     9  § 3354.  Additional parking regulations.

    11     (d)  Handicapped persons and disabled veterans.--
    12         (1)  When a motor vehicle bearing registration plates
    13     issued to handicapped persons or disabled veterans as
    14     prescribed in this title is being operated by or for the
    15     transportation of the handicapped person or disabled veteran,
    16     the driver shall be relieved of any liability for parking for
    17     a period of 60 minutes in excess of the legal parking period
    18     permitted by local authorities except where local ordinances
    19     or police regulations provide for the accommodation of heavy

     1     traffic during morning, afternoon or evening hours.
     2         (2)  At the request of any handicapped person or disabled
     3     veteran, local authorities may erect on the highway as close
     4     as possible to their place of residence and at such other
     5     places as the local authorities may provide a sign or signs
     6     indicating that that place is reserved for a handicapped
     7     person or disabled veteran, that no parking is allowed there
     8     by others, and that any unauthorized person parking there
     9     shall be [subject to a fine.] guilty of a summary offense and
    10     subject to a fine as provided in subsection (e).

    12     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 30 days.
