AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," providing for a modified schedule of
6 subsidy payments to school districts.
7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8 hereby enacts as follows:
9 Section 1. Section 2517, act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30,
10 No.14), known as the "Public School Code of 1949," amended June
11 26, 1974 (P.L.370, No.125), is amended to read:
12 Section 2517. Tertiary Payments.--The amount apportioned and
13 allotted to each school district shall be divided into three
14 payments and the Secretary of Education shall draw his
15 requisition three times annually upon the State Treasurer in
16 favor of each district for the amount to which it is entitled.
17 The first two payments shall be estimates based on but not to
18 exceed [thirty percent (30%)] forty percent (40%) each of the
19 total amount apportioned and allocated to the school district
1 during the previous school year for the same purposes. The final
2 payment shall be the balance of the apportionment due for the
3 applicable school year. Payment thereof shall be made to all
4 school districts on the first day of [October, February and
5 June, except any school district whose fiscal year and calendar
6 year are identical at the effective date of this amendatory act
7 shall continue to receive payments as heretofor.] September,
8 January and May.
9 This section shall apply to payments which a school district
10 is entitled under any provision of sections 2502, 2592, 2502.3
11 or 2502.4.
12 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 1977, or if
13 enacted after July 1, 1977, this act shall take effect
14 immediately.
