AN ACT
1 Authorizing the manufacture, distribution, sale, and use of
2 sodium saccharin without regard to Federal rules or
3 regulations; and requiring sodium saccharin to meet certain
4 standards.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. Notwithstanding any rule or regulation ever
8 adopted by the Federal Food and Drug Administration or other
9 Federal agency concerning sodium saccharin as defined and
10 described in the National Formulary, the chemical substance
11 sodium saccharin, N.F. may be manufactured, distributed, sold or
12 used within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
13 Section 2. No Commonwealth department, board, commission or
14 agency shall prohibit the manufacture, distribution, sale, or
15 use of sodium saccharin, N.F. within the Commonwealth of
16 Pennsylvania either as a component of any other substance
17 produced within the Commonwealth or as a separate product. This
18 section shall not prohibit the Department of Health from
1 regulating the manufacture, distribution, sale, or use of sodium
2 saccharin, N.F. to insure that such substance in not adulterated
3 or misbranded pursuant to the act of April 14, 1972 (P.L.233,
4 No.64), known as "The Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and
5 Cosmetic Act."
6 Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
