AN ACT
1 Amending the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), entitled "An
2 act to consolidate, editorially revise, and codify the public
3 welfare laws of the Commonwealth," providing for rental
4 payments to housing authorities in certain cases.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. The act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), known
8 as the "Public Welfare Code," is amended by adding a section to
9 read:
10 Section 408.1. Rental Payments to Housing Authorities.--If
11 upon the petition of any housing authority created under the
12 laws of this Commonwealth and after a hearing, the county board
13 finds that a tenant of a housing project of the housing
14 authority who is a recipient of public assistance owes the
1 authority rent, in an amount equal to or greater than three
2 monthly rental payments, then the board shall notify the
3 department to deduct an amount equal to two monthly rental
4 payments from each monthly assistance payment and pay the
5 amounts deducted to the housing authority until such time as all
6 the rent owed is paid.
7 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
