        AS REPORTED FROM COMMITTEE ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT, HOUSE OF
           REPRESENTATIVES, AS AMENDED, SEPTEMBER 26, 1977

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130), entitled
     2     "An act relating to counties of the third, fourth, fifth,
     3     sixth, seventh and eighth classes; amending, revising,
     4     consolidating and changing the laws relating thereto," making
     5     certain audits mandatory AND MAKING AN EDITORIAL CHANGE.       <--

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8     Section 1.  Section 1722.1, act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323,
     9  No.130), known as "The County Code," added August 27, 1963
    10  (P.L.1256, No.519), is amended to read:
    11     Section 1722.1.  Audit of Accounts of Minor Judiciary.--The
    12  controller or county auditors [may] shall annually audit the
    13  accounts of every alderman, magistrate or DISTRICT justice [of    <--
    14  the peace] within the county and report the results of such       <--
    15  audits to the county commissioners, the Auditor General and to
    16  the governing body of each political subdivision which is
    17  entitled or has a right to receive any moneys or funds collected
    18  by any such alderman, magistrate or DISTRICT justice [of the      <--
    19  peace].                                                           <--

     1     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
