AN ACT 1 Amending the act of April 9, 1929 (P.L.177, No.175), entitled 2 "An act providing for and reorganizing the conduct of the 3 executive and administrative work of the Commonwealth by the 4 Executive Department thereof and the administrative 5 departments, boards, commissions, and officers thereof, 6 including the boards of trustees of State Normal Schools, or 7 Teachers Colleges; abolishing, creating, reorganizing or 8 authorizing the reorganization of certain administrative 9 departments, boards, and commissions; defining the powers and 10 duties of the Governor and other executive and administrative 11 officers, and of the several administrative departments, 12 boards, commissions, and officers; fixing the salaries of the 13 Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and certain other executive 14 and administrative officers; providing for the appointment of 15 certain administrative officers, and of all deputies and 16 other assistants and employes in certain departments, boards, 17 and commissions; and prescribing the manner in which the 18 number and compensation of the deputies and all other 19 assistants and employes of certain departments, boards and 20 commissions shall be determined," adding a member of the 21 public at large to the State Registration Board for 22 Professional Engineers and making editorial changes. 23 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 24 hereby enacts as follows: 25 Section 1. Section 425, act of April 9, 1929 (P.L.177, 26 NO.175), known as "The Administrative Code of 1929," amended May 27 2, 1949 (P.L.781, No.193), is amended to read: 28 Section 425. State Registration Board for Professional
1 Engineers.--The State Registration Board for Professional 2 Engineers shall consist of the [Superintendent of Public 3 Instruction] Commissioner of Professional and Occupational 4 Affairs, one member who shall be a person representing the 5 public at large, and five members, all of whom shall be 6 registered professional engineers and full corporate members in 7 good standing in at least one of the following societies: 8 American Society of Civil Engineers, American Institute of 9 Mining and Metallurgical Engineers, American Society of 10 Mechanical Engineers, or American Institute of Electrical 11 Engineers. The members of the board shall be so selected that 12 not more than two of them shall be members of the same society. 13 Each member of the board shall be a citizen of the United States 14 and a resident of this Commonwealth, shall have been engaged in 15 the practice of the profession of engineering for at least ten 16 years, and shall have been in responsible charge of engineering 17 work for at least five years. 18 The terms of members of the board shall be six years. 19 [Three] Four members of the board shall constitute a quorum. 20 The board shall select, from their number, annually, a 21 president, and shall elect a secretary who need not be a member 22 of the board. 23 Each member of the board, except the [Superintendent of 24 Public Instruction] Commissioner of Professional and 25 Occupational Affairs, shall receive fifteen dollars per diem, 26 when actually attending to the work of the board, and the 27 secretary shall receive such reasonable compensation as shall be 28 determined by the board, with the approval of the 29 [Superintendent of Public Instruction] Commissioner of 30 Professional and Occupational Affairs. 19770H1039B1210 - 2 -
