AN ACT 1 Creating the Veterans Memorial Commission as a temporary body to 2 develop detailed plans for the creation of a State memorial 3 honoring Pennsylvania servicemen and to submit a report of 4 its findings, recommendations and proposed legislation to the 5 General Assembly. 6 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 7 hereby enacts as follows: 8 Section 1. There is hereby created a temporary commission to 9 be known as the Veterans Memorial Commission for the purpose of 10 developing plans for the creation of a State memorial at the 11 Indiantown Gap National Cemetary in honor of Pennsylvania 12 servicemen. 13 Section 2. The memorial commission shall consist of six 14 members as follows: 15 (1) The Adjutant General. 16 (2) The Secretary of General Services. 17 (3) The Executive Director of the Pennsylvania 18 Historical and Museum Commission, who shall be the chairman
1 or chairperson.
2 (4) A member of a veterans organization appointed by the
3 State War Veterans Council. ADJUTANT GENERAL. <--
4 (5) A member of the House of Representatives to be
5 appointed by the Speaker thereof.
6 (6) A member of the Senate to be appointed by the
7 President pro tempore thereof.
8 The members of the commission shall serve without
9 remuneration.
10 Section 3. The memorial commission shall have the power and
11 duty to develop detailed plans including site, size, costs and
12 other similar relevant items and facts germane to the creation
13 of a State Memorial. It shall present its findings and
14 recommendations together with drafts of necessary legislation to
15 effectuate the same in a written report to the General Assembly.
16 Upon submission of such report or the expiration of two years
17 from the effective date of this act, whichever is earlier, the
18 commission shall expire.
19 Section 4. This act shall take effect immediately.
