AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes further providing for the location of stationary
3 scales along Interstate Route 80.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 4981(b) of Title 75, act of November 25,
7 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the Pennsylvania Consolidated
8 Statutes, added June 17, 1976 (No.81), is amended to read:
9 § 4981. Weighing and measurement of vehicles.

11 (b) Stationary scales on freeways.--The Department of
12 Transportation, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania State
13 Police, shall erect and maintain at the entrance and exit of
14 Interstate 80 and at the intersections of Routes 322, 15 and
15 Interstate 81, permanent weigh stations which shall weigh all
16 trucks and truck tractor-trailer combinations traveling on such
17 highways and maintain on other freeways at points which it deems
18 necessary stationary scales and other equipment for detecting
1 violations of the size and weight limitations prescribed by this
2 chapter. The department may also contract with local authorities
3 to use their stationary scales.

5 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately or July 1,
6 1977, whichever is later.
