                       In the House of Representatives, January 28, 1975

     1     RESOLVED, That the last paragraph of Rule 53 of the House of
     2  Representatives be amended to read:
     3                              RULE 53
     4                      Discharge of Committees
     5     * * *
     6     Any member who has signed a discharge resolution which has
     7  been on the calendar at least one legislative day prior thereto,
     8  who has notified the Speaker that the discharge resolution is to
     9  be called up on a certain day and who on that day seeks
    10  recognition, shall be recognized for the purpose of calling up
    11  the discharge resolution and the House shall proceed to its
    12  consideration without intervening motion except one motion to
    13  adjourn; however, no discharge resolution shall be considered
    14  during the last six legislative days of any session of the
    15  House. A majority vote of all the members [elected to] present
    16  in the House shall be required to agree to a resolution to
    17  discharge a committee. When any perfected discharge resolution

     1  has been acted upon by the House and defeated it shall not be in
     2  order to entertain during the same session of the House any
     3  other discharge resolution from that committee of said measure,
     4  or from any other committee of any other bill or resolution
     5  substantially the same, relating in substance to or dealing with
     6  the same subject matter.
