AN ACT
1 Making an appropriation to the Department of Commerce for
2 financial assistance to municipally operated zoological
3 gardens.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. The sum of $600,000, or as much thereof as may be
7 necessary, is hereby appropriated to the Department of Commerce
8 for the fiscal year July 1, 1975 to June 30, 1976, to be
9 expended by making grants for the operation, maintenance and
10 development of municipally operated zoological gardens.
11 Section 2. The amount of the grant to any zoological garden
12 shall be determined by multiplying the number of visitors to
13 that garden during the most recently completed calendar year, as
14 certified to the Department of Commerce by the principal
15 administrative officer of the zoological garden, by 30¢. In the
16 event the amount herein appropriated shall be insufficient to
17 pay the full amount of the grants computed as aforesaid, the
1 grant to each grant recipient shall be proportionately reduced.
2 In no event shall the grant to any zoological garden exceed
3 $250,000.
4 Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
