AN ACT 1 Providing for free admission to certain lectures, courses of 2 instruction, seminars and presentations for media reporters 3 and certain other persons. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Any course of instruction, lecture, seminar or 7 presentation not given for academic credit for which an 8 attendance fee in excess of $10 is charged shall be open free of 9 charge to any reporter for a newspaper, magazine, radio station 10 or television station, and to any officer or employee of the 11 Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Pennsylvania Bureau of 12 Consumer Protection, or the District Attorney's office of the 13 county in which such course, lecture, seminar or presentation is 14 given; provided that such officer or employee be in attendance 15 for occupation-related or official purpose. 16 Section 2. Any reporter, official or employee so present 17 shall be allowed to take notes and make tape-recordings in full 18 or in part, of the proceeding of the course, lecture, seminar or 19 presentation.
1 Section 3. Any person who fails to comply with any provision 2 of this act shall be liable for a civil penalty of three times 3 the amount of the tuition or fee of the course, lecture, seminar 4 or presentation in addition to attorney's fees for the 5 plaintiff. An additional remedy shall be injunctive relief 6 which, if granted, shall prohibit the course, lecture, seminar 7 or presentation from being presented within the Commonwealth of 8 Pennsylvania. 9 Section 4. The provisions of this act shall not include any 10 course of instruction, lecture, seminar or presentation given by 11 any professional association or society solely for the benefit 12 of its members.
