                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of February 1, 1966 (1965 P.L.1656, No.581),
     2     entitled "An act concerning boroughs, and revising, amending
     3     and consolidating the law relating to boroughs," increasing
     4     certain duties pertaining to mayor.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Section 1029, act of February 1, 1966 (1965
     8  P.L.1656, No.581), known as "The Borough Code," is amended to
     9  read:
    10     Section 1029.  Duties of Mayor.--It shall be the duty of the
    11  mayor:
    12     (1)  To preserve order in the borough, to enforce the
    13  ordinances and regulations, to remove nuisances, to exact a
    14  faithful performance of the duties of the officers appointed,
    15  and to perform such other duties as shall be vested in his
    16  office by law or ordinance.
    17     (2)  To [sign] approve all such papers, contracts,
    18  obligations and documents [as may be required by law.] which
    19  pertain to the borough.

     1     (3)  To keep correct accounts of all fees, fines and costs
     2  received by him, to render to the council at least once a month
     3  an itemized statement of all such moneys so received since the
     4  last such statement, with the date at which and the purpose for
     5  which and the names of the persons from whom the same was
     6  received, and to pay all such moneys into the borough treasury,
     7  except such costs and fees as he may be authorized to retain in
     8  lieu of salary; to report to the council from time to time on
     9  the state of the borough and to make recommendations to the
    10  council on matters of borough concern. The borough shall furnish
    11  the mayor with such dockets, books and forms as are necessary
    12  for the conduct of his office. Such dockets, books and forms
    13  shall be and remain the property of the borough and shall be
    14  surrendered to his successor in office.
