                                     AN ACT

     1  Authorizing volunteer fire companies to bill certain owners or
     2     operators of motor vehicles on interstate highways for
     3     services rendered and providing for liens against such
     4     persons in the case of nonpayment; and providing legal
     5     representation for volunteer fire companies in such cases.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8     Section 1.  When a volunteer fire company responds to an
     9  emergency call relating to a motor vehicle on an interstate
    10  highway the owner or operator thereof shall, upon receipt of a
    11  bill from the volunteer fire company, pay such company for
    12  services rendered.
    13     Section 2.  When any owner or operator of a motor vehicle so
    14  rendered services by a volunteer fire company on an interstate
    15  highway fails to pay the bill presented, the volunteer fire
    16  company shall have a lien against the motor vehicle which may be
    17  perfected in accordance with the act of May 7, 1925 (P.L.557,
    18  No.300), entitled "An act to provide for the sale of property
    19  against which a common law lien may exist for repairs and


     1  material; and the method of procedure thereon."
     2     Section 3.  The solicitor of the political subdivision where
     3  the volunteer fire company is located shall provide, without
     4  cost to such volunteer companies, legal counsel for the purpose
     5  of perfecting any lien or other action arising out of or in
     6  connection with any services performed by such companies with
     7  respect to the owner or operator of any motor vehicle on
     8  interstate highways.
     9     Section 4.  This act shall take effect immediately.
