                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130), entitled
     2     "An act relating to counties of the third, fourth, fifth,
     3     sixth, seventh and eighth classes; amending, revising,
     4     consolidating and changing the laws relating thereto,"
     5     providing for a full-time district attorney in third, fourth,
     6     fifth and sixth class counties and establishing his salary.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Section 1401, act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323,
    10  No.130), known as "The County Code," is amended by adding
    11  subsections to read:
    12     Section 1401.  District Attorney; Qualifications;
    13  Eligibility.--* * *
    14     (g)  The district attorney in third, fourth, fifth and sixth
    15  class counties shall devote all of his time to the performance
    16  of his duties as the district attorney and shall not practice
    17  before the courts of the Commonwealth in any other capacity.
    18     (h)  The annual salary of the district attorney in a third,
    19  fourth, fifth, or sixth class county shall be the same as the
    20  president judge of the court of common pleas of such county


     1  notwithstanding the provisions of any other law to the contrary.
     2  The Commonwealth shall pay to such a county the difference
     3  between the amount of salary to which its district attorney was
     4  entitled at the time this act becomes effective and the amount
     5  of salary provided for him herein.
     6     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
