A JOINT RESOLUTION
1 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the Commonwealth
2 of Pennsylvania, requiring separate but equal opportunities
3 based on sex in public school athletics.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby resolves as follows:
6 Section 1. The following amendment to the Constitution of
7 the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is proposed in accordance with
8 the provisions of the eleventh article thereof.
9 That section twenty-eight of article one of the Constitution
10 of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania be amended to read:
11 ARTICLE I

13 Section 28. Prohibition Against Denial or Abridgment of
14 Equality of Rights Because of Sex.--Equality of rights under the
15 law shall not be denied or abridged in the Commonwealth of
16 Pennsylvania because of the sex of the individual. In public
17 school athletics, however, separate but equal opportunities
18 based on sex shall be provided.
