AN ACT
1 Amending the act of August 31, 1971 (P.L.423, No.101), entitled
2 "An act providing for Commonwealth support for institutions
3 of higher education to furnish learning and special
4 counseling services for undergraduate students whose
5 cultural, economic and educational disadvantages impair their
6 initial ability to pursue successfully higher education
7 opportunities, and making an appropriation," further defining
8 student.
9 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
10 hereby enacts as follows:
11 Section 1. Clause (2) of section 3, act of August 31, 1971
12 (P.L.423, No.101), known as the "Higher Education Equal
13 Opportunity Act," is amended to read:
14 Section 3. Definitions.--The following words and phrases
15 shall have the following meanings:

17 (2) "Student" shall mean any bona fide resident of the
18 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania who has been [admitted as a full-
19 time] accepted as a student to an institution of higher
20 education and who is [economically and] educationally
21 disadvantaged in accordance with criteria to be established by
1 the State Board of Education.
2 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
