                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of August 14, 1951 (P.L.1232, No.282), entitled
     2     "An act authorizing and empowering the Pennsylvania Turnpike
     3     Commission to combine the turnpike and its extensions now
     4     constructed and to be constructed or parts thereof, for
     5     financing purposes under the provisions of this act;
     6     authorizing the issuance of turnpike revenue bonds of the
     7     Commonwealth, notes or other obligations, to pay the cost of
     8     such combined turnpike and its extensions; authorizing the
     9     commission to refund any bonds, notes or other obligations
    10     theretofore issued by the commission under the provisions of
    11     any act, including the payment of any redemption premium
    12     thereon, notwithstanding any limitations or restrictions as
    13     to time of refunding or rate of interest contained in any act
    14     heretofore approved, whether or not any of the projects in
    15     respect of which such securities being refunded were issued
    16     are combined; authorizing the commission to fix tolls from
    17     time to time for the use of the projects so combined;
    18     authorizing the commission to construct and finance as a
    19     whole or in sections; providing for preliminary or interim
    20     financing through the issuance of notes or other obligations,
    21     constituting the same legal investments in certain instances,
    22     and exempting the same from taxation; providing for bonds to
    23     be given by each appointed member of the commission and the
    24     secretary and treasurer thereof, conditioned upon the
    25     faithful performance of the duties of his office in the
    26     administration of the Pennsylvania Turnpike System; and
    27     providing for salaries for the appointed members of the
    28     commission in lieu of the salaries heretofore authorized by
    29     law," increasing salaries.

    30     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania


     1  hereby enacts as follows:
     2     Section 1.  Section 6, act of August 14, 1951 (P.L.1232,
     3  No.282), entitled "An act authorizing and empowering the
     4  Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission to combine the turnpike and its
     5  extensions now constructed and to be constructed or parts
     6  thereof, for financing purposes under the provisions of this
     7  act; authorizing the issuance of turnpike revenue bonds of the
     8  Commonwealth, notes or other obligations, to pay the cost of
     9  such combined turnpike and its extensions; authorizing the
    10  commission to refund any bonds, notes or other obligations
    11  theretofore issued by the commission under the provisions of any
    12  act, including the payment of any redemption premium thereon,
    13  notwithstanding any limitations or restrictions as to time of
    14  refunding or rate of interest contained in any act heretofore
    15  approved, whether or not any of the projects in respect of which
    16  such securities being refunded were issued are combined;
    17  authorizing the commission to fix tolls from time to time for
    18  the use of the projects so combined; authorizing the commission
    19  to construct and finance as a whole or in sections; providing
    20  for preliminary or interim financing through the issuance of
    21  notes or other obligations, constituting the same legal

    24  member of the commission and the secretary and treasurer
    25  thereof, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties
    26  of his office in the administration of the Pennsylvania Turnpike
    27  System; and providing for salaries for the appointed members of
    28  the commission in lieu of the salaries heretofore authorized by
    29  law," amended in effect by act of September 2, 1961 (P.L.1177,
    30  No.525), amended February 8, 1972 (P.L.21, No.10), is reenacted

     1  and amended to read:
     2     Section 6.  By reason of the increased duties and
     3  responsibilities imposed upon the commission and in lieu of the
     4  salaries heretofore authorized by law, the chairman of the
     5  commission shall receive an annual salary of [seventeen thousand
     6  dollars ($17,000) and the other appointed members of the
     7  commission shall each receive an annual salary of fifteen
     8  thousand dollars ($15,000)] twenty-five thousand dollars
     9  ($25,000), the vice-chairman of the commission shall receive an
    10  annual salary of twenty-four thousand dollars ($24,000), the
    11  secretary and treasurer of the commission shall receive an
    12  annual salary of twenty-four thousand dollars ($24,000), and the
    13  assistant treasurer of the commission shall receive an annual
    14  salary of twenty-four thousand dollars ($24,000); payable in
    15  semi-monthly installments, solely from funds derived from the
    16  Pennsylvania Turnpike System; and each member of the commission
    17  shall be reimbursed for the necessary expenses incurred in the
    18  performance of his duties.
    19     Section 2.  All acts or parts of acts are repealed in so far
    20  as they are inconsistent herewith.
    21     Section 3.  The provisions of this act, shall, to the extent
    22  permitted by the Constitution, become effective immediately upon
    23  final enactment.
