AN ACT
1 Amending the act of June 23, 1931 (P.L.932, No.317), entitled
2 "An act relating to cities of the third class; and amending,
3 revising and consolidating the laws relating thereto,"
4 providing for liability insurance for officers and employes.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. Section 2403, act of June 23, 1931 (P.L.932,
8 No.317), known as "The Third Class City Code," reenacted and
9 amended June 28, 1951 (P.L.662, No.164), is amended by adding a
10 clause to read:
11 Section 2403. Specific Powers.--In addition to other powers
12 granted by this act, the council of each city shall have power,
13 by ordinance:

15 53.1. Liability Insurance.--To purchase insurance on
16 officers and employes for liability arising from errors and
17 omissions in the performance of their duties in the course of
18 their employment, except that liability of elected or appointed
1 officials or officers for surcharge in accordance with law shall
2 not be affected hereby.

4 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
