AN ACT
1 Prohibiting elected officials of political subdivisions from
2 holding office when elected to the General Assembly.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Any elected official of a political subdivision
6 who subsequently is elected as a member of the General Assembly
7 shall before taking the oath of office for the General Assembly,
8 resign the elected position in the political subdivision. This
9 act shall not apply to any elected party positions.
10 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately AND SHALL <--
11 APPLY TO PERSONS ELECTED OR REELECTED AS MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL
12 ASSEMBLY AT THE GENERAL ELECTION HELD IN NOVEMBER 1976 AND TO
13 EACH PERSON ELECTED THEREAFTER.
