AN ACT
1 Providing for leaves of absence for persons elected or appointed
2 to certain governmental positions and providing penalties.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Whenever any person is elected to any public
6 office or appointed to any supervisory or administrative
7 position in local, State or Federal Government, he shall be
8 given, by his employer, a leave of absence without pay for as
9 long as so elected or appointed. The employer shall reemploy
10 such person at the end of his period of such governmental
11 service at the same job or job with equal pay or salary as the
12 job from which he was given a leave of absence without pay.
13 Section 2. Any person violating the provisions of this act
14 shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof,
15 shall be sentenced to pay a fine not exceeding $1,000 or to
16 undergo imprisonment not exceeding 1 year, or both.
