                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130), entitled
     2     "An act relating to counties of the third, fourth, fifth,
     3     sixth, seventh and eighth classes; amending, revising,
     4     consolidating and changing the laws relating thereto,"
     5     authorizing the chief clerk to transact business as an
     6     insurance broker for the purpose of contracting insurance and
     7     surety bonds for any department, board, agency or commission
     8     of the county.

     9     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    10  hereby enacts as follows:
    11     Section 1.  Section 521, act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323,
    12  No.130), known as "The County Code," is amended by adding a
    13  subsection to read:
    14     Section 521.  Duties and Powers of Chief Clerk.--
    15     * * *
    16     (c)  The chief clerk is hereby authorized and his duty shall
    17  be to transact business as a licensed insurance broker for the
    18  purpose of contracting all insurance and surety bonds for any
    19  department, board, agency or commission of the county.
    20     Any and all fees collected by the chief clerk for the
    21  performance of the duties of a licensed insurance broker in

     1  contracting insurance or surety bonds for any department, board,
     2  agency or commission of the county shall be paid into the
     3  General Fund of the county.
     4     Section 2.  All other acts and parts of acts are repealed in
     5  so far as they authorize the contracting of insurance for any
     6  department, board, agency or commission of the county through an
     7  insurance broker other than the chief clerk.
     8     Section 3.  This act shall take effect immediately.
