                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 21, 1957 (P.L.392, No.213), entitled,
     2     as reenacted and amended, "An act requiring that meetings of
     3     the governing bodies of political subdivisions and of certain
     4     authorities and other agencies performing essential
     5     governmental functions shall be open to the public; requiring
     6     public notice of such meetings; and prescribing penalties,"
     7     redefining the word "board" to include boards and commissions
     8     of the Commonwealth.

     9     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    10  hereby enacts as follows:
    11     Section 1.  Subsection (A) of section 1, act of June 21, 1957
    12  (P.L.392, No.213), entitled, as reenacted and amended, "An act
    13  requiring that meetings of the governing bodies of political
    14  subdivisions and of certain authorities and other agencies
    15  performing essential governmental functions shall be open to the
    16  public; requiring public notice of such meetings; and
    17  prescribing penalties," reenacted and amended September 28, 1959
    18  (P.L.987, No.403), is amended to read:
    19     Section 1.  In this act the following terms shall have the
    20  following meanings:
    21     (A)  "Board."  The board of county commissioners of any

     1  county, the council of any city, borough or incorporated town,
     2  the board of commissioners of any township of the first class,
     3  the board of supervisors of any township of the second class,
     4  the school board of any school district [or the board,
     5  commission or other governing body of] the Pennsylvania Turnpike
     6  Commission or the board, commission or other governing body of
     7  any State or municipal authority or similar organization created
     8  by, or pursuant to, a statute which declares, in substance, that
     9  such organization performs or has for its purpose the
    10  performance of an essential governmental function and that its
    11  bonds shall not pledge the faith or credit or be obligations of
    12  the Commonwealth or of any political subdivision or any board or
    13  commission of the Commonwealth.
