                                  A SUPPLEMENT

     1  To the act of May 28, 1915 (P.L.596), entitled "An act requiring
     2     cities of the second class to establish a pension fund for
     3     employes of said cities, and regulating the administration
     4     and the payment of such pensions," providing for a period
     5     during which certain persons may join the pension fund
     6     created under the act.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Every city or authority employe otherwise
    10  eligible to join the pension fund created under the act to which
    11  this is a supplement but who is not ineligible to join because
    12  of not having done so within the times provided by such act
    13  shall have the option of joining such pension fund within one
    14  year after the effective date of this act. Any city or authority
    15  employe who joins such pension plan shall receive full credit
    16  toward his pension under the act for each year of service as an
    17  employe of the city or authority upon his producing proof,
    18  satisfactory to the pension board, of the number of years of
    19  such service and upon his making back payments at the same rate


     1  as if he had been a city employe and a member of the pension
     2  fund during such period in a lump sum or by installments as may
     3  be determined by the board. If the employe is retired before the
     4  back payments have been completed, the annuity shall be reduced
     5  by an amount equivalent to the unpaid back payments or deduction
     6  increases not anticipated.
     7     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
