                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of December 22, 1965 (P.L.1124), entitled "An
     2     act relating to dogs; regulating the keeping of dogs;
     3     providing for the licensing of dogs and kennels; providing
     4     for the protection of dogs and the detention and destruction
     5     of dogs in certain cases; regulating the sale and
     6     transportation of dogs; declaring dogs to be personal
     7     property and the subject of larceny; providing for the
     8     assessment of damages done to livestock, poultry and domestic
     9     game birds; providing for payment of damages by the
    10     Commonwealth in certain cases and the liability of the owner
    11     or keeper of dogs for such damages; imposing powers and
    12     duties on certain State and local officers and employes;
    13     providing penalties, and repealing certain acts," eliminating
    14     license fees for seeing eye dogs.

    15     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    16  hereby enacts as follows:
    17     Section 1.  Section 201, act of December 22, 1965 (P.L.1124),
    18  known as the "Dog Law of 1965," is amended to read:
    19     Section 201.  On or before January 15, 1966, and on or before
    20  January 15th of each year thereafter, the owner of any dog six
    21  months old or over, except as hereinafter otherwise provided,
    22  shall apply to the county treasurer of his respective county on
    23  a form prescribed by the Department of Revenue, for a license
    24  for such dog owned or kept by him. Such application shall state


     1  the breed, sex, age, color and marking of such dog, and the name
     2  and address of the last previous owner; and shall be accompanied
     3  by a license fee of one dollar ($1) for each male dog and for
     4  each spayed female dog for which the certificate of a
     5  veterinarian or the affidavit of the owner is produced, and by a
     6  license fee of two dollars ($2) for other female dogs, and an
     7  additional fee of twenty cents (20¢) for the issuing, recording
     8  and reporting said license fees. The county treasurers of the
     9  several counties of this Commonwealth shall be agents of the
    10  Commonwealth for the collection of said license fees. The said
    11  agents shall be allowed to retain the sum of twenty cents (20¢)
    12  from the amount paid by each licensee for his reimbursement of
    13  expenses incurred in issuing, recording and reporting of such
    14  licenses. No fee shall be charged for a license for a seeing eye
    15  dog if the owner thereof is blind. All such license fees shall
    16  be remitted to the State Treasurer, through the Department of
    17  Revenue.
