AN ACT
1 Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
2 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for the
3 number of judges of the court of common pleas of the 24th <--
4 Judicial District. COURTS OF COMMON PLEAS. <--
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. Section 911(a) of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania
8 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
9 § 911. Courts of common pleas.
10 (a) General rule.--There shall be one court of common pleas
11 for each judicial district of this Commonwealth consisting of
12 the following number of judges:

28 Section 2. (a) The provisions of 42 Pa.C.S. § 3135 shall
29 not be applicable to the selection of judges for the judgeship
30 created in the amendment of 42 Pa.C.S. § 911(a).

1 (b) The new judgeship FOR THE TWENTY-FOURTH JUDICIAL <--
2 DISTRICT added by the amendment of 42 Pa.C.S. § 911(a) shall be
3 established on January 2, 2006, and shall be initially filled by
4 election at the 2005 municipal election.
5 (C) THE NEW JUDGESHIP FOR THE SIXTIETH JUDICIAL DISTRICT <--
6 ADDED BY THE AMENDMENT OF 42 PA.C.S. § 911(A) SHALL BE
7 ESTABLISHED ON JANUARY 7, 2008, AND SHALL BE INITIALLY FILLED BY
8 ELECTION AT THE 2007 MUNICIPAL ELECTION.
9 Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
