           TOMLINSON, LOEPER, BRIGHTBILL, CONTI, CORMAN, MURPHY, STOUT,
           DENT, SLOCUM, HUGHES, EARLL, KITCHEN, COSTA, BELAN, BODACK,
           WOZNIAK, TARTAGLIONE, THOMPSON, WENGER, MADIGAN, HOLL,
           GERLACH, O'PAKE, RHOADES, GREENLEAF, PUNT, WAUGH, MUSTO,
           MELLOW, HART, LAVALLE AND SCHWARTZ, JULY 23, 1999

        AS AMENDED ON THIRD CONSIDERATION, OCTOBER 5, 1999

                                     AN ACT

     1  Making an appropriation to the Department of Military and         <--
     2     Veterans Affairs to issue AMERICAN BATTLE MONUMENTS            <--
     3     COMMISSION AS a grant for USE IN the construction of the       <--
     4     National World War II Memorial in the District of Columbia.

     5     The General Assembly finds and declares as follows:
     6         (1)  The American Battle Monuments Commission is raising
     7     funds for the construction of the National World War II
     8     Memorial in the District of Columbia as authorized by the act
     9     of May 25, 1993 (Public Law 103-32, 107 Stat. 90).
    10         (2)  There were 1,321,000 residents of the Commonwealth
    11     of Pennsylvania who served in the Armed Forces of the United
    12     States during World War II.
    13         (3)  It is appropriate for the Commonwealth to contribute
    14     to the construction of the National World War II Memorial.
    15     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    16  hereby enacts as follows:


     1  Section 1.  Appropriation.
     2     The sum of $2,000,000 is hereby appropriated from the General
     3  Fund to the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs for the   <--
     4  purpose of issuing a grant to the American Battle Monuments
     5  Commission for AS A GRANT FOR USE IN the construction of the      <--
     6  National World War II Memorial in the District of Columbia.
     7  Section 2.  Effective date.
     8     This act shall take effect immediately.
