AN ACT 1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An 2 act relating to the public school system, including certain 3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial 4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the 5 laws relating thereto," further providing for definitions and 6 for payments on account of pupils enrolled in vocational 7 curriculums. 8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 9 hereby enacts as follows: 10 Section 1. Section 1801(4) of the act of March 10, 1949 11 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is 12 amended to read: 13 Section 1801. Definitions.--The following words and phrases 14 as used in this article shall, unless a different meaning is 15 plainly required by the context, have the following meanings: 16 * * * 17 (4) "Vocational agricultural education" shall mean that form 18 of vocational education which [fits for the occupations 19 connected with the tillage of the soil, the care of domestic
1 animals, forestry, and other wage-earning or productive work on 2 the farm.] provides students with the skills needed to enter and 3 advance in careers such as production agriculture, agribusiness 4 management and marketing, agricultural research and engineering, 5 food science, food processing and retailing, banking, 6 agricultural education, landscape architecture, silviculture, 7 aquaculture, urban interfacing and other related fields. 8 * * * 9 Section 2. Section 2502.8 of the act is amended by adding 10 subsections to read: 11 Section 2502.8. Payments on Account of Pupils Enrolled in 12 Vocational Curriculums.--* * * 13 (f) Notwithstanding any other provision of this act to the 14 contrary, vocational agricultural education programs operated by 15 school districts and area vocational-technical schools shall 16 receive funding in accordance with this section regardless of 17 any minimum time requirements for class hours established by 18 regulation of the State Board of Vocational Education. 19 (g) Vocational education credits may be given for hours 20 spent in supervised occupational experience and cooperative and 21 clinical experiences. 22 Section 3. The provisions of 22 Pa. Code § 339.22(a)(4) 23 (relating to program content) are abrogated to the extent of any 24 inconsistency with this act. 25 Section 4. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
