AN ACT
1 Providing for medical records availability for mammography and
2 prostate screening.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Patient request.
6 Upon a patient's written request, the medical record or a
7 copy of the medical record relating to the patient for
8 mammography or prostate screening which is in the possession or
9 under the control of the physician, hospital or laboratory shall
10 be made available to the patient. Reasonable fees may be charged
11 for making available copies, forms or reports.
12 Section 2. Physician's discretion.
13 A physician may withhold information from a patient if, in
14 the reasonable exercise of his professional judgment, he
15 believes release of the information would adversely affect the
16 patient's health.
17 Section 3. Effective date.
1 This act shall take effect immediately.
