SENATOR CIANFRANI, APPROPRIATIONS, AS AMENDED, JUNE 15, 1971
AN ACT
1 Making an appropriation to the Department of Justice for the
2 payment of certain moral claims against the Commonwealth.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. The sum of seventy-five thousand dollars
6 ($75,000), or as much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby
7 specifically appropriated to the Department of Justice of the
8 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the payment of moral claims
9 against the Commonwealth arising from the wrongful imprisonment
10 for approximately thirteen years as alleged commission of crimes
11 in violation of the penal laws of this Commonwealth of which
12 later discovered evidence has proved such persons to be innocent
13 and for reimbursement for ANY LOSS DUE TO PERSONAL INJURY OR <--
14 SICKNESS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE LOSS OF REPUTATION,
15 GOOD WILL, SAVINGS, attorney's fees and other fees in defense
16 against prosecution for the aforesaid crimes AS WELL AS ANY <--
17 OTHER PHYSICAL OR MENTAL DEPRIVATION, INCLUDING THE DEPRIVATION
18 OF PERSONAL OR CIVIL RIGHTS.
1 Section 2. Payment from said appropriation shall be made by
2 requisition of the Department of Justice of the Commonwealth of
3 Pennsylvania upon proof of such claims to the satisfaction of
4 the Department of Justice and the Auditor General.
5 Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
