No. 236 Session of 2002


        INTRODUCED BY ROBBINS, EARLL, TOMLINSON, MUSTO, RHOADES, BODACK,
           GREENLEAF, BOSCOLA, MADIGAN, KUKOVICH, ORIE, WAGNER,
           ERICKSON, STOUT, MOWERY, TARTAGLIONE, WAUGH, DENT, BRIGHTBILL
           AND LEMMOND, MAY 7, 2002

        REFERRED TO RULES AND EXECUTIVE NOMINATIONS, MAY 7, 2002

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the month of May 2002 as "Corrections Officers
     2     Month" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Corrections officers form the backbone of a
     4  successful prison system; and
     5     WHEREAS, Corrections officers are the guardians of security
     6  in a democratic society; and
     7     WHEREAS, Corrections officers are providers of volunteer
     8  service in their local communities; and
     9     WHEREAS, Corrections officers are the first element in the
    10  rehabilitation of the incarcerated; and
    11     WHEREAS, Corrections officers work with prison officials to
    12  create well-run correctional facilities; and
    13     WHEREAS, The fine men and women of diverse backgrounds
    14  serving as corrections officers work together to support an
    15  effective detention system; therefore be it
    16     RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the month of May 2002 as
    17  "Corrections Officers Month," in Pennsylvania in recognition of

     1  the valuable contributions made by corrections officers.
