A RESOLUTION 1 Proclaiming the week of June 9 through 15, 2002, as "State 2 Veterans' Home Week." 3 WHEREAS, The history of our nation reflects the memories of 4 the men and women who have endeavored to preserve our freedom, 5 whose task, while indescribable in terms of sacrifice and 6 commitment, stands as a lasting tribute to the ideals we value 7 as Americans; and 8 WHEREAS, These heroes, every man and woman, relinquished a 9 part of their lives in defense of these United States, and their 10 struggles will never be forgotten, overlooked or underestimated; 11 and 12 WHEREAS, Those who served our country in the United States 13 Armed Forces forever carry the virtues of liberty, freedom and 14 the right to independence, and we, as citizens of the United 15 States of America, owe an inexpressible debt to these men and
1 women, and we take time here to thank each of these American 2 heroes, past and present; and 3 WHEREAS, The Commonwealth has, for more than 100 years, 4 provided a home for these distinguished veterans in need; and 5 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania will continue to honor its veterans by 6 providing them with support; therefore be it 7 RESOLVED, That, in recognition of our veterans and veterans' 8 homes, the Senate proclaim June 9 through 15, 2002, as "State 9 Veterans' Home Week" and encourage all citizens to visit a 10 State-supported home in Erie, Hollidaysburg, Spring City, 11 Scranton or Pittsburgh and thank these veterans and the 12 personnel who serve them.
