        INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, OCTOBER 2, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of October 13 through 21, 2007, as
     2     "Binational Health Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Since its inception in seven Mexican states and
     4  seven California counties in 2001, "Binational Health Week" has
     5  expanded steadily and has included participation from 28 Mexican
     6  states, three provinces in Canada, and in 2007, will include 30
     7  states in the United States, including Pennsylvania; and
     8     WHEREAS, "Binational Health Week" is a bilateral
     9  collaborative effort between Mexico and Pennsylvania with the
    10  active participation of State and local organizations, the
    11  Mexican Consulate, community clinics and community-based
    12  organizations; and
    13     WHEREAS, As the number of individuals in our communities who
    14  divide their time between Pennsylvania and Mexico has increased,
    15  there is a clear need for a common health strategy; therefore be
    16  it
    17     RESOLVED, That the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania designate


     1  October 13 through 21, 2007, as "Binational Health Week."
