SENATE RESOLUTION

No. 123 Session of 2005


        INTRODUCED BY BOSCOLA, RHOADES, STOUT, CONTI, KASUNIC, ERICKSON,
           STACK, GREENLEAF, LOGAN, RAFFERTY, LAVALLE, WONDERLING AND
           FERLO, MAY 26, 2005

        REFERRED TO ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES AND ENERGY, MAY 26, 2005

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Urging the Governor to create a task force to study flooding
     2     problems and to establish plans and procedures to reduce
     3     flooding in this Commonwealth.

     4     WHEREAS, Heavy rain and a series of strong storm systems in
     5  August and September 2004 caused severe flooding in several
     6  counties in this Commonwealth; and
     7     WHEREAS, Many homes and businesses in this Commonwealth
     8  incurred serious damage as a result of the heavy rain and
     9  storms; and
    10     WHEREAS, As a result of recent increases in local economic
    11  development, there are more parking lots, roadways, sidewalks
    12  and other impervious surfaces that force storm water runoff into
    13  our creeks, streams and rivers during wet weather events; and
    14     WHEREAS, Pennsylvania has a network of dams and reservoirs
    15  that are designed to control flooding during severe storms;
    16  therefore be it
    17     RESOLVED, That the Senate urge the Governor to create a task
    18  force to study flooding problems and to establish plans and

     1  procedures to reduce flooding in this Commonwealth.
