A RESOLUTION
1 Designating the month of March 2007 as "Professional Social Work
2 Month" in Pennsylvania.
3 WHEREAS, Social workers have the right education and
4 experience to guide individuals, families and communities
5 through complex issues and choices; and
6 WHEREAS, Social workers connect individuals, families and
7 communities to available resources; and
8 WHEREAS, Social workers are dedicated to improving the
9 society in which we live; and
10 WHEREAS, Social workers are positive and compassionate
11 professionals; and
12 WHEREAS, Social workers stand up for others to make sure
13 everyone has access to the same basic rights, protections and
14 opportunities; and
15 WHEREAS, Social workers help people help themselves, whenever
16 and wherever they need it most; and
1 WHEREAS, Social workers have been the driving force behind
2 important social movements in the United States and abroad;
3 therefore be it
4 RESOLVED, That, in recognition of the more than 9,500
5 licensed social workers in this Commonwealth and their
6 commitment and dedication to individuals, families and
7 communities everywhere through legislative advocacy, service
8 delivery, research and education, the Senate designate the month
9 of March 2007 as "Professional Social Work Month" in
10 Pennsylvania and call upon all citizens to join with the
11 National Association of Social Workers, Pennsylvania Chapter, in
12 celebration and support of social workers and the social work
13 profession.
