                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, making it unlawful to leave an unattended child in
     3     a vehicle.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     7  Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
     8  § 3701.1.  Leaving an unattended child in a motor vehicle.
     9     (a)  General rule.--A person driving or in charge of a motor
    10  vehicle may not permit a child under six years of age to remain
    11  unattended in the vehicle when the motor vehicle is out of the
    12  person's sight and under circumstances which endanger the health
    13  or welfare of the child.
    14     (b)  Penalty.--A person who violates this section commits a
    15  summary offense.
    16     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
