SENATE BILL

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of August 31, 1971 (P.L.398, No.96), entitled
     2     "An act providing for the creation, maintenance and operation
     3     of a county employes' retirement system, and imposing certain
     4     charges on counties and providing penalties," providing for
     5     the deposit of a former employee's contributions to the
     6     Philadelphia County Pension Fund and transfer of the
     7     employer's contributions.

     8     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     9  hereby enacts as follows:
    10     Section 1.  The act of August 31, 1971 (P.L.398, No.96),
    11  known as the County Pension Law, is amended by adding a section
    12  to read:
    13     Section 13.2.  Deposit of Former Employe's and Transfer of
    14  Employer's Contributions.--(a)  The Philadelphia County Pension
    15  Fund shall deposit a former employe's pension fund contributions
    16  in the Public School Employee's Retirement Fund and shall
    17  transfer the full amount of the county's contributions credited
    18  to the former employe's pension fund account to the Public
    19  School Employee's Retirement Fund if the following conditions
    20  are met:

     1     (1)  Written request for the deposit and transfer is made to
     2  the Philadelphia County Pension Fund, both by the former county
     3  employe and by the Public School Employee's Retirement Fund.
     4     (2)  Written verification is provided to the Philadelphia
     5  County Pension Fund that: (i) the former county employe withdrew
     6  contributions upon termination of county employment; (ii) the
     7  former county employe now is employed by a school district in a
     8  county of the first class; and (iii) the former county employe
     9  now is a member of the Public School Employee's Retirement Fund.
    10     (b)  The Philadelphia County Pension Fund shall effect the
    11  deposit and transfer within thirty days of its receipt of the
    12  written request and verification.
    13     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
