| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Designating the apple as the official fruit of the Commonwealth |
2 | of Pennsylvania. |
3 | The General Assembly finds and declares as follows: |
4 | (1) Apples are grown in every county within this |
5 | Commonwealth. |
6 | (2) Pennsylvania apple production ranks in the top ten |
7 | nationally with more than 10 million bushels produced |
8 | annually. |
9 | (3) Approximately one-third of Pennsylvania's apples are |
10 | grown for fresh market sales. |
11 | (4) Apples are nutritious and are a good source of |
12 | fiber. |
13 | (5) The world's largest apple processor is located in |
14 | southcentral Pennsylvania. |
15 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
16 | hereby enacts as follows: |
17 | Section 1. Official State fruit. |

2 | Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. |
3 | Section 2. Effective date. |
4 | This act shall take effect immediately. |
