AN ACT
1 Amending the act of May 28, 1715 (1 Sm.L.94, Ch.208), entitled
2 "An act for acknowledging and recording of deeds," changing
3 the time within which mortgages shall be satisfied; and
4 providing penalties.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. Section X of the act of May 28, 1715 (1 Sm.L.94,
8 Ch.208), entitled "An act for acknowledging and recording of
9 deeds," amended July 31, 1968 (P.L.866, No.259), is amended to
10 read:
11 X. And if such mortgagee, by himself or his attorney, shall
12 not, within [forty-five] seven days after request and tender
13 made for his reasonable charges, return to the said office, and
14 there make such acknowledgment as aforesaid, he, she or they,
15 neglecting so to do, shall for every such offence, forfeit and
16 pay, unto the party or parties aggrieved, [any sum not exceeding
17 the mortgage-money] one hundred dollars for each day in excess
18 of seven, to be recovered in any Court of Record within this
1 Commonwealth, by bill, complaint or information.
2 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
