AN ACT
1Amending the act of June 26, 2014 (P.L.790, No.77), entitled "An
2act designating the 700 to 800 block of U.S. Route 13, also
3known as the Chester Pike, in Prospect Park Borough, Delaware
4County, as the Officers Luke Arlington Conner and John Horace
5Callaghan Memorial Highway," further providing for the
6Officers Luke Arlington Conner and John Horace Callaghan
7Memorial Highway.
8The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9hereby enacts as follows:
10Section 1. The title and section 1 of the act of June 26,
112014(P.L.790, No.77), entitled "An act designating the 700 to
12800 block of U.S. Route 13, also known as the Chester Pike, in
13Prospect Park Borough, Delaware County, as the Officers Luke
14Arlington Conner and John Horace Callaghan Memorial Highway," is
15amended to read:
16Designating the 700 to 800 block of U.S. Route 13, also known as
17the Chester Pike, in Prospect Park Borough, Delaware County,
1as the Officers Luke Arlington Conner and [John] J. Horace
2Callaghan Memorial Highway.
3Section 1. Officers Luke Arlington Conner and [John] J. Horace
4Callaghan Memorial Highway.
5(a) Findings.--
6(1) Officer Luke Arlington Conner.
7(i) Officer Conner was a resident of Prospect Park
8and an officer of the Prospect Park Police Department for
9two years.
10(ii) On October 8, 1919, Officer Conner was on foot
11patrol on U.S. Route 13, also known as the Chester Pike,
12and was struck by a vehicle, dying six hours later in a
13local hospital.
14(iii) Officer Conner was survived by his wife and
15five children.
16(2) Officer [John] J. Horace Callaghan.
17(i) Officer Callaghan was a resident of Prospect
18Park and an officer of the Prospect Park Police
19Department for 15 years.
20(ii) On December 21, 1940, Officer Callaghan was
21directing traffic on U.S. Route 13, also known as the
22Chester Pike, near Stewart Avenue, when he was struck by
23a drunk driver.
24(iii) Officer Callaghan was survived by his wife and
25three children.
26(b) Designation.--The 700 to 800 block of U.S. Route 13,
27also known as the Chester Pike, in Prospect Park Borough,
28Delaware County, is designated as the Officers Luke Arlington
29Conner and [John] J. Horace Callaghan Memorial Highway.
30(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
1maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the highway to
2traffic in both directions on the highway.
3Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
